a little about me

I am so excited and thankful you are here – it seriously means so much! My name is Kaitlin but you can call me Katie for short. I was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas and currently live in Kansas City with my husband, Cooper and our Bernedoodle, Walter. Cooper and I got married a little over two years ago and I still can’t believe it has already been two years – when they say marriage just gets better and better, it is honestly true. I love sharing about our relationship (the ups and the downs) and talking about him often, so don’t be surprised if he makes an appearance on here every now and again.

Before moving to Kansas City, I attended college at Kansas State University (Go Cats!) where I majored in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations and a minor in Leadership Studies. Upon graduation, I immediately took an internship opportunity with a traditional public relations firm, FleishmanHillard, in their Kansas City office. That internship then lead me to my first official “big girl” job at a digital agency called DEG, also headquartered here in Kansas City. Although I no longer work there, I am still so thankful for my career path at DEG because it is what lead me to find my passion and love for becoming a blogger and what lit my soul on fire to start this little journey on the Internet.

Fast forward almost five years later and here I am, officially launched my blog, teaching Pure Barre (love me a good sweat sesh) and helping run the studio as the General Manager and Lead Teacher. I never imagined this is where life would take me, but I am so so thankful it has. I decided that after years of making excuses to keep pushing my blog off, that 2019 would be the year that I was going to finally make this “blog thing” happen. It has been something I have always wanted to do ever since I graduated college and I kept using my busy lifestyle as an excuse. I finally decided to politely say, “screw that” and push other people’s opinions aside (even the ones in my own head), and go full force into something I feel so passionately about.

With this blog I hope to keep things 100% real with whoever decides to swing by. I know social media can make people’s lives seem perfect and that they don’t struggle through certain seasons of life, but I am here to tell you that is honestly the furthest from the truth. While although my Instagram feed might also feel or seem that way at times, please know that it definitely is not. I am a human being just like you who makes mistakes every single day and who falls short more often than none. I don’t always have the perfect outfit put together and my skin isn’t always perfect – yes, I still get pimples and I am 30 years old LOL  The list could go on and on, but to try and keep things short and sweet, I just want you to know that although I might not be JUST like you, because I truly believe God gave us all unique gifts and made us all uniquely different, but I want you to know that I am the furthest from perfect and I hope that will shine through with the things I decide to share.

I want this little corner of mine on the Internet to be filled with faith, love, humility, a good outfit or two and even maybe some tips on how to complete your first half marathon (I mean, what are you waiting for? ). Anyways, I just want to say that I am truly thankful you are here and I can’t wait to share in this journey together.

with love,

~Katie
