Baby Mach | Gender Neutral Nursery

I have been so excited to finally create and share this blog post with y’all! Also, peep that new navigation tab at the top of my blog too 🥺 Baby Mach’s nursery has been a labor of love for the past few months leading up to our due date and I am so excited to finally share all the details with you guys. I have broken down each part of the room below and will link everything that I can. I also tried to include as much detail in case any of you are currently planning your baby’s nursery.

I can confirm that this room is by far my favorite room in the entire house. I love just spending time in here day dreaming of what life will be like once our baby decides to make his or her arrival in just one short month (well, hopefully not too much longer than a month 😂)! Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy. Feel free to message me over on Instagram if you have any questions or leave a comment below! I love chatting with you guys. Alright, onto the baby nursery fun.

The Accent Wall

This is what you see when you first walk in. For reference, this space used to be our guest bedroom, which was pretty bare to start with, giving us a nice clean and empty space to work with! Obviously since we do not know the gender, we kept things pretty neutral with a simple pop of color on our accent wall. To be honest I probably would have kept this space pretty neutral even if we did find out Baby Mach’s gender. I just love how all the colors and textures ended up coming together.

crib (we have the washed neutral) // rug (we got the 7 x 10) // light fixture

The first thing we really started with was the accent wall. My best friend, Lee, helped us create this. She did all the box and moulding herself! She is seriously so talented and you should definitely check out her blog for all the home decor and DIY inspo (she has a tutorial on how she does her box and moulding on her blog). Also, if you are local, she can do this for you too! Just shoot her a message over on her Instagram.

The accent wall color we used is Benjamin Moore’s October Mist. I love this sage green color and feel like it will suit a girl or a boy perfectly. Once we know the gender and have decided on a name (we currently have two girl names and one for sure boy name!), I will also plan on getting a name sign hung on this wall as well. So stay tuned for that update coming later this spring.

Changing Table / Dresser

Our changing table and nursing chair were actually the first two big purchases we made for Baby Mach back in September. Pottery Barn Kids was having a sale at the time and so we ended up pulling the trigger the same day we were planning to “just browse” (you’d think Coop would know what this phrase means by now!). We were slightly worried about the timing with all the shipping delays these types of companies were still facing since COVID, so we wanted to be proactive. I think we had more time than we thought (first time parents probs), but the gal who was helping us in-store was happy that we were planning ahead. I think we ended up receiving both items by December, so again, plenty of time but I definitely recommend picking out your big pieces first - like your changing table/dresser, your nursing chair and your crib to sort of establish a theme or cohesive look and feel for the entire nursery. Definitely was helpful to have those bigger items picked out first so then I could really build the details of the rest of the room around the bigger pieces.

As far as what is on top of the dresser, I have linked our changing pad and both our baskets (basket 1 + basket 2) for baby Mach’s changing essentials. And I used these organizers and dividers from Amazon for inside the drawers and throughout the nursery - HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Also, this label maker from Amazon has been my best friend throughout this entire nesting process - hah! I am obsessed with it.

Curtains

My Mom actually made these curtains specifically for the baby’s room. They are made so you can pull them all the way down or cinch them up like you see here. The fabric came from a local spot here in Kansas City called Nell Hills and I just LOVE how they turned out and I am so thankful my Mom ended up making these. It is so special and a small detail I will always cherish.

The Closet

Okay, the closet is still a bit of a work in progress, but I feel like I have a good start on keeping things as organized as I possibly can with the space we are working with. Since we didn’t have much to work with (read: anything) to start in terms of organization goes, this hanging organizer from Amazon and these boxes (what you see at the very top!) were the perfect start to build around in IMO!

We also ended up getting this cubed organizer from Target as well that we are currently using for extra books, toys, diapers, etc. Coop and I also chatted that we will be able to use this piece in our next home once our kids have a more designated spot in the basement for all their toys/where they can play together. Obviously that is way down the line but it will be nice to have while trying to keep things organized and picked up as best as we can - wishful thinking I know 😂

I also ordered these closet dividers from Etsy for all of Baby Mach’s hanging clothes. We honestly do not have a TON of clothes yet which I am perfectly fine with - hah! I can’t wait to know what the gender is so I can start buying him or her alllll the clothes 🥺 Literally cannot wait to dress this little nugget.

The Nursing Chair + Side Table

Like I mentioned above, the nursing chair was one of the first purchases Coop and I made for the baby and it was also one of the hardest decisions in my opinion. There are just SO many options for nursing chairs and I don’t do well when overwhelmed with options. I can be sort of indecisive sometimes. I am pretty sure we sat in every single chair that Pottery Barn Kids had on their floor multiple times. The gal who was helping us though was so so kind in helping us make the right decision for us.

We ended up going with this chair and I am so glad we did. I know it is on the more expensive side, but for me, it is totally worth it. It is a recliner and a glider all in one. It is also battery powered (can be manual too), so when you recline or when you need/want to sit back up, it won’t wake the baby. It also has a USB port on the chair which will be nice for when I am spending a good amount of time nursing or holding our baby and need to charge my phone.

Again, I know there are cheaper options out there, but this was a purchase we felt confident splurging on. Our nightstand table is actually from Amazon! We saw something similar at HomeGoods but it wasn’t the right color. Ended up finding this one on Amazon for a good price and I pulled the trigger as soon as I saw it. Will also link our table lamp (it is a dimmer on it!) and our Hatch - one of the number one baby registry recommendations I received. So many of you LOVE this thing. I am excited to see what all the hype is here very soon!

Other Nursery Details

I feel like I will add more details once we know the gender and have a name, but for now, I am happy with how our details have come together so far! I especially LOVE our wall with baby Mach’s books and also his or her’s little rattan clothing rack I got from Etsy. Linking everything I can for you below!

suspension shelves // picture frame // rainbow stacking toy // wooden camera // alpaca was a purchase we made on our baby moon in NYC! It is made of real alpaca fur designed and created by women in Peru 🥺

Okay, I feel like that sort of wraps up the nursery for now at least! I hope you guys love it as much as I do. Again, if you have any questions at all or don’t see a link to something you are wanting one for, please DM me over on Instagram or leave a comment!

with love,
~Katie
